Is it possible to make a print on sportswear ?
Yes, but let’s start at the beginning.
You often ask about personalization on sports shirts, shorts or zip-up sweatshirts. Clothing purchased by customers in sports stores is very different. There are t-shirts for the gym, running shirts, fitness clothing, or cycling. Such clothing is not always suitable for marking. The composition of the T-shirt is important. What percentage is polyester, cotton or other material? So, to see if anything bad happens to the material in the first place, we will have to do a test run 😉 Will the garment withstand under the press at a temperature of at least 160 degrees C. If the material does not discolor, melt or shrink, then by all means we will be able to make advertising prints on the sportswear you bought.
There is also a safer way out, buying already tested and prepared for advertising labeling sportswear in our wholesale store. In this case, you do not need to make any tests. You can immediately proceed to the implementation of the order. So we encourage you to take a look at our catalog to avoid dilemmas and speed up the execution of the order.
Alright, now that we have the sportswear selected and completed, what marking method can we use? Rest assured, we’ve got it covered. In a few paragraphs we will introduce you to the best ways to mark sportswear.
Types of printing on sportswear:
Sublimation
This is the most common and best method of marking sportswear. Sublimation involves the passage of sublimation ink from a print on a special medium into the structure of the garment material using a heat transfer press. The result is multicolor printing, with strong color saturation, resistant to washing. This method of marking is undetectable to the touch and perfectly permeable to air, so it is ideal for sports shirts. However, there is a limitation. Namely, the color of the garment and the composition of the garment. With sublimation, we can only sublimate on polyester shirts. We also won’t do sublimation on black and heavily dark t-shirts. White or very light polyester fabrics are best.
Screen printing
Direct printing method, with inks prepared from the PANTONE palette. This is the method most often chosen for marking sportswear in large quantities. So if you are preparing some sports event, marathon, rally and you need to do printing on min 35 pieces of clothing, screen printing will be suitable.
Flex film
this method is chosen for minimum print runs, that is, even from 1 piece. Most often personalized are sports shirts, where you need the name and number on the back of the athlete or a single-color club logo on the chest. Durability of such printing is very high as well as resistant to weather conditions.
Thermal transfer
This is a method of marking prepared on transfer paper which, with the help of a press, is transferred onto clothing. This method is most often used for marking the so-called hard to reach places. It also works well for marking hats or sports bags. Find out what thermal transfer is all about .
To sum up.
When you want to personalize one T-shirt or sports shorts, it will not be a problem after passing the press test. Likewise for more sportswear. We will choose the appropriate technique adequately to the project and to make the price as favorable as possible for you.
